Week 1 goals recap

Week one went well.  I stayed on track with my exercise and food.  I think tracking in the paper journal helps SO MUCH.  I got my new tracker in the mail and I had to laugh when I opened up the cover.

I'm considering adding in there - "and don't schtoop your maid for 15 years secretly."  Regardless of Mr. Schwarzenegger's input this is a really good diet journal! The cover is discreet and it has pages enough for 200+ days of tracking.

Another of my goals for January and 2013 is to stay off Facebook.  I have struggled with this previously, and I finally found a computer program that helps!  It's called Cold Turkey and it blocks websites you want to avoid.  Unlike other software that does this, it's very hard to bypass so it actually works lol.

Another goal that I am working on is reading 52 books in 2013.  I read Soul Stalker, by Laura Kreitzer last week and it was very good.  It is a science fiction/fantasy/paranormal type book about "angels" so if that's not your thing then you probably would not like it.  It's very well written.  Not too much smut (sometimes I wish it had more smut.....), very classy books.  This week I am working on Abyss, the next book in that series.  I'm almost done with it so I might actually start another this week.

Happy Wednesday! I have to get some work done so I can take my kiddo to the doctor. Cross your fingers he doesn't have the flu!

I will leave you with Milo and his "beloved" blankie.  (Boy has issues with this blanket, and I cannot wait to get him neutered on January 17!!)

Bookish Tuesday and free yoga!

One of my favorite things to do, after running of course, is reading.  I am madly in love with my Nook Color.      However, my favorite kind of books to read are generally paranormal romance (??I have no idea why??) or smut!  I'm not opposed to reading other kind of books, but let's be honest here...I have limited time that I can devote to reading.  I read to relax.  Plus, haven't you ever heard the saying "smut is good for the soul???"    No? Maybe I made that up.  I figured I should take one day of the week to review books or talk about what I'm reading or some such thing.

So, this week I will tell you about a non-smut book I read recently that I LOVED.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed.  This book really spoke to me.  It was a fabulous read about a woman who hikes the Pacific Crest Trail in an effort to "find herself" after several major life tragedies. I definitely recommend it! I read it and then declared to hubby that I was going to go hike the Pacific Crest Trail too.  Bless his heart he humored me.  :)  I realized my goal was a bit lofty and decided to start working towards being able to do something like that if I wanted to.  I think this book really planted one of the first seeds that pushed me towards running.  Cheryl Strayed has another book out that I have downloaded on my Nook but have not started reading yet (too busy reading smut).

The second thing I wanted to tell you guys about today is free yoga!!  Steffi over at Almost Healthy Life has started doing yoga videos on her blog!! Her blog is a recent find of mine, but it's one of my absolute favorites!! She makes it all seem not so intimidating!!  So, go check her out and do some yoga!!
